5 Tips for Exercising at Work

Sitting at a desk for eight to nine hours a day can be mentally and physically draining. Research has shown that a sedentary lifestyle can have adverse effects on bone health and can lead to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. The benefits of exercising have increased the longevity and quality of life for many individuals. Being stuck behind a desk all day doesn’t mean you can’t work out during the day! The following tips will help you regularly add exercise to your workday!

WALK BREAKS

Whether you wear them to work or you keep them under a desk, comfy shoes are a necessity for a midday walk. Taking a fast-paced walk around the building during downtime will help you squeeze in extra steps, but also help you elevate your heart rate during the day. You can also take the stairs instead of the elevator, or walk around the office and conversations with your coworkers instead of sending an email or an interoffice message.
